MPD – Operations Manager / Senior Engineer

Job Brief:

Are you a senior Managed Pressure Drilling professional with extensive field and leadership experience? Do you have the capability to lead MPD operations and teams across complex drilling projects?

We are seeking an experienced MPD Operations Manager / Senior Engineer for a leading oil & gas operation in Kuwait. A senior MPD engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience may be considered for the MPD Operations Manager role. The position involves overseeing end-to-end MPD operations, ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations for assigned rigs and projects.
• Plan, supervise, and optimize MPD strategies to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations.
• Oversee MPD system design, setup, testing, and execution including RCDs, choke manifolds, and pressure control systems.
• Ensure bottom-hole pressure is maintained within defined operational limits to mitigate kicks, losses, and wellbore instability.
• Provide technical leadership and decision-making support during critical drilling operations.
• Coordinate closely with drilling engineers, rig teams, service providers, and client representatives.
• Develop and implement MPD operational procedures, risk assessments, and contingency plans.
• Ensure strict compliance with HSE standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Review daily drilling reports, MPD performance data, and post-well evaluations.
• Mentor, train, and supervise MPD engineers and field personnel.

Required Qualification / Experience / Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in drilling operations with strong specialization in Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD).
• Strong expertise in well control, drilling hydraulics, and advanced pressure management techniques.
• Proven experience managing MPD teams and coordinating multi-disciplinary operations.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication skills for effective coordination with clients and internal stakeholders.
